Canada Eases Fragrance Allergen Reporting

Health Canada has revised how fragrance allergens are reported in the Cosmetic Notification Form (CNF). Under the updated approach, exact concentrations for most fragrance allergens in the CNF will no longer be required. Product labelling requirements, however, will remain intact. Fragrance allergens will still require listing when concentrations exceed established thresholds (0.001% for leave‑on products and 0.01% for rinse‑off).

FDA Launches AEMS - New Unified Adverse Event Reporting System

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has launched the Adverse Event Monitoring System (AEMS). This platform centralises adverse event reporting for all FDA‑regulated products, including cosmetics, and will publish adverse event reports in near‑real time via a public dashboard. The system is expected to be fully operational by late May 2026, with historical data migrated into the platform as part of the transition.

South Korea Updates Cosmetics Act

The South Korean government has amended the Enforcement Decree of the Cosmetics Act, introducing provisions for official “Cosmetics Day” activities to recognise contributions to cosmetics safety and industry growth. The amendment also clarifies data collection powers for authorities investigating cross‑border direct purchase behaviour.
